The Orca, turned up. Firepower construction and a power kink tail make the Golden Orca stiffer, livelier and more precise than the standard Orca II - the difference between a board that floats powder and one that drives through it. The most expensive board in this drop, and worth it for the right rider.

What you get

• Firepower hemlock construction. More snap and more damping than the standard Orca lay-up.
• Power kink tail. Loads up out of a turn and releases hard.
• Flex 7-8. A charger's board. It rewards a rider who stays forward and drives it.
• Short, wide volume-shifted shape. Ride it shorter than your usual length - float comes from width, not length.

Come into 463 Main St and stand on the board before you commit, and bring your boots: fit and size depend on your feet far more than your height. We mount, tune and wax in-house, and we will tell you honestly if a cheaper board in the rack suits you better.

Common questions

Why would I ride a 155 if I normally ride a 160? The Orca shape is volume-shifted: wide underfoot with a short running length. You size down and keep the float. If that sounds wrong, come in and stand on one.

Golden Orca or Orca II? The Orca II is softer, friendlier and $100 less. The Golden Orca is stiffer and faster. If you are not riding hard, the Orca II is the better buy.

Is it only a powder board? No. It carves hard snow genuinely well. It is a freeride board, not a one-condition board.
